Wow, thank you for taking the time to write a good story. Like everyone else, I feel like a schlub, so reading this gives me encouragement to stop binge-watching re-runs of "I Love Lucy" and instead get out the door.
You are a real writer. I appreciate that; it's an honorable profession and there are not as many of you as there used to be. You are kind, thoughtful, and introspective; thank you for doing what you do.
This is a great interview, thanks Sarah. I’m probably not going to do an FKT any time soon but it’s got me thinking about what the next big challenge can be - and how it doesn’t have to be running!
I raced against Buzz at the Amasa 25K trail race in Moab last year. About 4 miles in to the race I was working hard and realized Buzz was right in front of me. I was thinking, shit Buzz is like 19 years older than me and he’s kicking my ass (I was 53 at the time). I’ll admit it gave me some good motivation to get moving. And seeing him out there racing, it still gives me motivation. If he can still be getting after it at 70+, then hopefully I can too once I’m that age.
Side note, Buzz does some kickass stuff! He’s a good follow on Strava!
Thank you for sharing! I loved Buzz's perspective on getting older. As an aging athlete, I know slowing down is right around the corner (if not already here). But I'm going "suck it up" as long as I can.
Perfect article at the perfect time. Mid-50's and coming back from a massive leg injury. Thank you to Brendan Leonard for linking it in his Friday email. Thank you, Sarah.

Buzz, thank YOU! And I'm excited for the Moab RUFA party.

Thanks Craig! It’s fun & inspiring to explore the FKT website for route ideas.
Great interview Sarah. I'm a big fan of his writing and podcasts as well, and I always appreciate Buzz's no nonsense point of view.
