thanks for reading! You can adapt :-) and it hardly counts as "running," it's more like gnarly trekking. Hardrock's nickname is "hard walk" because so much of the terrain is un-runnable and necessitates hiking and scrambling. I have several posts in the archives on how to develop mountain-running skills, and my book (The Trail Runner's Companion) covers the nuts & bolts of mountain running, if you are interested. LMK if I can help -- and I hope you go for a half marathon (and a full, maybe an ultra?) in 2023!
This is crazy! I can't imagine doing this kind of run. I scoffed when a friend asked if I wanted to do a half marathon in the spring!

Ha! I might be willing to work towards the half marathon. I just have to push myself to go to the gym for weight lifting in addition to the cardio.
I know it can be tough to get to the gym if you have kids (unless the gym has childcare). I don't know if you saw this post, but it recommends do-at-home strength work. good luck! https://sarahrunning.substack.com/p/conditioning-for-trail-runners-the
Thanks! I need to do more of that at home but we have a Y membership that doesn't get used nearly enough.
