Wow Sarah, your honesty and vulnerability are so refreshing. I can relate to so much about what you write and really appreciate your blogs. And I have a love/hate relationship with Strava too but my run group uses it to organize runs.

Love all that you wrote here. A certain comparison anxiety and then, you turned around and found something so much more valuable to care about. The other disappears.

I so admire what you’re doing with the substitute teaching. I would be terrified! But it’s good to challenge ourselves. You’re managing to do that AND give back in a very important way to the community.

I can relate to the missing those precious early days with the kids. I'm holding on tight to my oldest as she'll be a high school junior next year. I really hope I don't completely fall apart when she leaves for college.

Thank you so much for substituting at the school! You are perfect for that job on many levels.

So great. I think you should work on a book-length memoir. You're really onto something here. It's refreshing to read your writing again. When I became ill last year I stopped reading everyone and everything; I felt like I needed the break. But I'm happy to see your posts popping back into my inbox again. Cindy below said it well: "Your honesty and vulnerability are so refreshing." Like I say, time to think about a memoir. Thanks again.

Having taught Special Education in all grades for years I could totally relate to your quick thinking with your student. Smart idea to tap into his rap persona & adapt the lesson accordingly!!
