Congratulations - especially for being in the Galapagos instead of glued to your computer screen on Lottery Day!

But in your otherwise excellent “races I recommend” you left out Imogene - next time I see Rick I may have to tell him you dissed him … 😜

Stay healthy - the longer the race the more this matters.

Also, I realized I left off SJS50 🤦‍♀️but added that in along with Imogene.

Thank you. Whoops, I completely overlooked Imogene! I’ll edit the list to include it when I’m back on my laptop. I’ve only raced it twice since I do the road so frequently on training runs. It’s become very hard to get into—it fills up in mere minutes — and I think they should implement a lottery with a wait list.

As a desert dweller you should consider the new Kanab race in May!

Very good! Here's a fun photo I just discovered - Rick just said "Go" and jumped into the starting line on far left - then there's some guy 3rd from left:

I came here to say that I was feeling that Lake City was being dissed again but see that it was just an oversight. Thanks for adding SJS50. I hope you received my email about Ice Climbing in Lake City.

Hi Jerry -- I blame it on travel brain; I was in a hurry writing this post, with limited WiFi, and accidentally forgot both SJS and Imogene the first time, but added them in when I remembered! I highly recommend SJS50. I often tell people it's the very best aid station food I've ever experienced, with the home-cooked soups and pastas, even better than Hardrock's! I do recall your ice climbing recommendation from last winter, thank you. I want to visit Lake City in late June and spend a night or two there to get to know the parts of the course around Sherman, since I only have run those sections once while pacing in the clockwise direction a decade ago. Hope you're doing well, thanks for reading and have a happy holiday season.

Thanks Sarah. It appears that maybe you did not receive my email on 12/8. Is that the case?

I did not receive it. Please do not use the Substack address that goes out with my weekly newsletter. You can email me at sarahlavendersmith@gmail.com, thanks.

Huge Congratulations Sarah!! Thank you so much for all these race recommendations and excellent questions. I want to run a 100 miler but I think I need a lot more 50 milers and 100Ks under my belt. Thanks again!!

I just realized I left San Juan Solstice 50 off this list. It’s a great one and Hardrock-hard but “only” 50. I’ll add it to the list when I’m back on the laptop.

I’ll look into this one. Thank you Sarah. :)
