I’m with you I was Nirvana all the way. Great post sometimes it’s hard to look back but those crazy free dancing wild children are still inside us waiting for us to lighten up enough to let them out to play …….. I know easier said than done, but I do believe it

The line "I miss that person who danced and partied and felt everything deeply" reminds me so much of Tenille Townes' song "Girl Who Didn't Care"! Different age range, but the nostalgia for your younger self is the same.

I recently watched a few SNL skits from when Jon Bon Jovi hosted and they were fun.

Bon Jovi was my era too! I remember smiling the first time I saw an actual “slippery when wet” road sign after moving to the US…even though there was plenty of wet in the UK, somehow we were never warned that it might be slippery!? Will look out for the doc…might be a good distraction for my hardrock fomo…I wish I could zoom in for your talk! Could you do a version for us?

Thank you! I think I’ll narrate my slide show and upload it to YouTube and then share the link.

Thanks for sharing those songs! I had listened to the Fresh Air interview even though I never followed Bon Jovi. I knew he and Bruce are close. I'll watch the doc next time I'm subscribed to HULU.

Bruce is the touchstone/coming of age music for me. I saw him in 1980 and twice in the last year. In April I had a pit ticket and was three people from the rail! Man, that guy. Rockin' the house at 74. I've been obsessed with his late 70's stuff lately. Not sure why... Darkness on the Edge of Town which came out that year has always been my favorite.

Anyway, been sidelined since late April with some piriformis thing I'm still trying to figure out. MRI Saturday. It's also had me contemplating if this is the end of the running thing. But, it's not. I just have to figure it out and keep going. Not the same as in the past, like Bon Jovi, but in some other form. If Bruce can still rock, I can still run :-)

If you are so inclined, this is a masterful performance of She's the One from a 1978 Houston concert https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LicjPZ3GSLs It's long, but I think, worth it.

Can't wait to hear about Hardrock!!

I'm feeling a little sad to not be out there again this year, hanging with you and taking in all that beautiful San Juans goodness! Hopefully in 2025 I can return and pace/crew some of our VHTRC or Crozet Running friends (or YOU)! And Rusty and I will watch and listen to the Bon Jovi film and interview -- thanks for the inspiration! I'm totally taken by Taylor Swift and all the good she has unleashed through her Eras Tour (my daughter grew up loving her music and we went together to her Fearless concert when Virginia was 12 and Taylor was 19) and now looking forward to learning more about Bon Jovi and his story. Missing you today... and hoping you'll have the chance to see Keith Knipling finish when you are volunteering -- take a pic for me! This hopefully will be finish #5 for him and a smoother one from when you and I hung out with him and Mark from Telluride to Silverton :-) Still one of my favorite ultra memories ever! XO

Thank you, Sophie. It would be a dream come true to have you crawl up Grant Swamp Pass with me around sunset during Day 2 of Hardrock, me wearing a bib and you pacing me.

Music is life. Especially the music we listened to from Middle school to college. It twangs something inside of us. I can't explain it. But since I've started collecting vinyl records and listening to the albums of my youth I've been happier, more reflective and watching much less TV. And now, thanks to you, I'm adding Slippery When Wet to my "want list."

Thank you, Scotty! You're someone who can totally relate. Be sure to watch the doc series too, at least parts 1 and 4.
