I'm sorry the dream trip didn't work out but I'm so glad that there were a lot of positives that came from it as well. And I'm jealous of the trip you ended up with!

Congratulations on the milestone, Sarah. Sorry your trip didn't pan out though. I totally agree with your sentiment: sometimes the best adventures aren't planned.

I remember the sense of loss we felt when we had to let go of our long-planned extended trip to England with Chris’s mom in April 2020. All the lovely bookings, the Thames Path 100 race entries, everything gone, replaced by fears of a deadly virus. Let it go is all you can do, and you’ve salvaged a lot of good from it.

Oh yes! Curve balls involving firetrucks and runways as well. Sep. 10th 2001 there was a firetruck & fire incident on the runway at Newark airport. I was 18 and traveling with two of my childhood girlfriends from Miami back to SFO, connecting in Newark. The runway fiasco that night caused us to miss our connecting flight and we slept in a hotel in Newark. The next morning was total chaos with travellers trying to rebook. We were traveling United but begged for the earliest flight possible back to SFO. We got a flight, I think it was Continental right before the flight they would have booked us on, flight 93 NEW-SFO on United. Needless to mention that flight was hijacked during Sept 11th.

We sat in the taxi line with UA 93 eight minutes behind us and flew over the twin towers right before they came down. We know all this because the whole flight, us three girls and crew were grounded at a hotel in Grand Rapids Michigan. They were all so sweet to us since we were the youngest on a mostly business traveller flight. Anyhow, had we stayed on our original vouchers I wouldn't be here. All thanks to a firetruck and runway fire and a little persistence to get out as soon as possible because we were out of money and couldn't afford the airport food (lol). So yes, there are reasons sometimes for the things that we will never get the pleasure of knowing, but everything is significant, good and bad. Life is such a trip.

I'm really sorry about your dog Beso too! That is so rough.

Enjoy the holidays!!!
