Thank you! You should see them now in their winter pasture state—fat and fuzzy. They look much better in summer with slick thinned-out summer coats and better muscle definition. I’m a proud “mom” to them!
I know that state well. We have an Arabian, and a burro. The latter is a BLM rescue, and, of course, because the wild burros hang out with the wild Mustangs, we named her Sally - Mustang Sally.
Love the bit about sleep being the best legal performance enhancing drug. It reminds me about the anecdote you shared about how a ten-minute mid-race nap helped you finish a race.
I'm really excited to share our conversation on tomorrow's Trail Talk episode!

The property just below yours was owned by a dear friend of our old Telluride tribe, most of whom have left the area. In the '90's, she and two other long timers built her little place from a kit. A few years later, she added the little silo that functioned as her blacksmithing workshop. My husband and I got married up on the rise above her property in '02, where two old tipi poles used to stand. For that event the silo functioned as the ganja den. Other friends of ours were married there before us. On that same rise, our tribe celebrated the life of another very special friend who died too young. Lots of memories at Kate's place! Just another history ditty of that area, thought you'd like to know :)
Yes, I remember Kate! When she built her little house, my parents were worried about how it would affect the view from their cabin, but it ended up enhancing it because her tiny cabin and artist's silo is so picturesque. The current owners are never there and we wonder why they don't rent it since it'd make such good housing for a local. Morgan and I looked at it when it was on the market in the early 2000s. What a wonderful place to get married!
Your horses are gorgeous.

I love both —Arabians for endurance riding, burros for pack trips. That’s great you’re caring for them.
